About

When I was young, my grandfather took up writing as a hobby in the later years of his life. He would tell me that he was “wordsmithing.” I liked this phrase. As an aspiring writer myself, I too, decided that I wanted to be a “wordsmith.”

After a lot of thought in coming up with a title for my blog, I finally came up with, “Welcome to the Gyre.” I named this space The Gyre because I realize that’s what my mind feels like most of the time. A gyre is “a circular or spiral form, vortex; or a giant circular oceanic surface current (as defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Yes, I looked it up). That pretty much sums up how my mind often operates; it’s rarely calm, and my thoughts are usually running about ten miles a minute. And I think there are a lot of people out there who can relate to this feeling.

At the end of the day, I’m just a pop culture and literary nerd with an affinity for retro-inspired clothing who wants to produce fun and entertaining content for you, the readers. It might be chaotic in here, but we’ll have a good time.

Feel free to reach out on my Twitter and Instagram. I always love a good discussion on film, books, entertainment, and the like. The links are on the sidebar, and my handle for both accounts is the_lady_of_thegyre.

Thank you for stopping by!
